HAT-TRICK OF ACCOLADES FOR BELL PRODUCTS
Bell
Products, the national industrial cleaning-materials supplier, has scored
a hat-trick of accolades within the past few weeks. The company has received
ISO 9002 certification from the SABS; been nominated as one of South Africa's
Top 300 Black Empowerment companies by the 2001 edition of Impumelelo;
and now, the Managing Director of Bell Products, Mr.Colin Geoffreys has
been elected as one of six finalists for Businessperson of the Year by
the Western Cape Business Forum.
According
to Colin Geoffreys, these accolades are recognition of the firm's transformation
into a model South African Company, through investments such as JIT trading,
expansion of its trucking fleet, extensive training, and now the ISO 9002
quality certification. ISO 9002 certification is awarded to firms that
meet international quality standards for business management practices,
such as procurement, manufacturing, and delivery. "You can't go into
business half-heartedly," says Geoffreys, "You have to take
risks by investing in your business in ways that make a difference to
both customers and personnel. Our ISO 9002 certification is one of those
investments." He adds, "Being nominated as a leading Black Empowerment
Company is treasured acknowledgement of our years of planning and hard
work." The Black Empowerment nomination, made on the findings of
extensive research undertaken by various Black Empowerment organisations
and local government bodies, is awarded by the publishers of Impumelelo
in "recognition of the enterprise as an innovative force, and a pioneer
in its particular business sector".
Bell
Products is a Black Empowerment company specialising in the manufacture
of industrial cleaning chemicals, cleaning accessories and equipment.
The Bell Products range is supported by both local and international technology.
The company houses an in-house Research and Development facility, and
every aspect of manufacture is approached on a technical and professional
basis to achieve maximum efficiency, cost-effectiveness and hygiene. Stringent
quality control measures are applied at all stages of production, and
only top quality materials are used.
A
concerted focus on customer needs is crucial to the Bell Group's success,
and product development is ongoing, according to market-related requirements.
Customer Service is also a priority, and Bell Products has developed distribution
and technical support facilities at its various centres, ensuring a fully
integrated, co-ordinated cleaning system. Taking care of personnel is
another key focus area, with staff training programmes designed to promote
staff motivation and effective product use. Bell Products has a 99% Black
workforce. Its head office is in Cape Town, with member companies in Johannesburg,
Pretoria, Pietermaritzburg and Port Elizabeth.
